A key factor in the prevention of breast cancer, mammograms are specialized x-ray imaging systems that scan breast tissue for abnormalities and can detect and diagnose cancer early. Women ages 40 to 44 have the choice to start annual breast cancer screening with mammograms if they wish to do so while women age 45 to 54 should get mammograms every year.

For vendors to schedule an appointment, the majority of patients must be:
-40 years or older
-Asymptomatic (no breast lumps, nipple discharge, etc.)
-Have a primary care physician or OBGYN
-No prior diagnosis of breast cancer

These are the general insurance regulations for a screening mammogram to be fully covered under the Affordable Care Act.

Women under 40 with a first-degree breast cancer risk (a direct relative who has been diagnosed with breast cancer) can often receive a prescription from a doctor for a screening mammogram and many insurance carriers with fully cover the cost for these.

Planning & Logistics:
-Most providers require 2-4 months lead time for booking.
-Vans can serve about 40 women per day with each
screening taking roughly 15 minutes total.
-Paperwork is filled out in advance whether through an online scheduler or manually.

Mammograms run through your insurance plan, garten charges a $1,000 coordination fee per location to set up mobile mammograms for your organization. (Note: in certain states the fee may be higher)
