This intensive course delves into the science of brain waves - what they are, what they mean, how they work, how this relates to aging and anti-aging and how meditation and mindfulness practices can help preserve telomeres. Dr. Kim gives a thorough overview of the 4 main types of brainwaves, what they are, what they look like and the state of the body during each stage to give participants a full understanding of the impact of brainwave states on the body and mind. This conversation takes a segway into a discussion on telomeres and how this relates to cellular death and ultimately human aging and death, explaining what telomeres are, their importance and what activities, habits and lifestyle adjustments are responsible for preserving them. The role of meditation, mindfulness and other practices and treatments such as acupuncture have a profound impact on the brain and brain waves, ultimately resulting in preserved telomere length and integrity. Dr. Kim will lead the group through some guided meditations to help them experience a relaxed Alpha state and deepened Theta state to integrate the material in an experiential capacity.
