This one-hour presentation is designed to reduce gender-based, racial, and youth violence through non-violent communication, mindfulness practices, and art-based projects. I will take participants through case studies, research and insights into how violence has been reduced through the arts, and then lead participants through some hands-on exercises that prompt self awareness, healthy expression, empathy, and help limit implicate biases. We will look at how our natural stress responses directly impact communication, learn how to initiate our own calming response, and tap into problem solving and language centers for non-violent communication.
